“If you think education is expensive, try ignorance” |
|
"I borrowed this motto from the the former president of Harvard University, because I experienced it in my life and in the one of other people, and I like it because it is true.
LLL stays for Life Long Learning. This is exactly what all of us should do, not only children, pupils, students and working students, but all of us, until the end of our life.
LLL was possible also before computers, personal computers, mobile devices, 3G and the Internet invaded our planet, but today it’s much easier, because billions of information are accessible from our living room (even if I prefer to walk around as much as possible, because this is the best way to know and understand the world, its inhabitants and its places).
Why is Toshiba Europe GmbH a member of EFQUEL? One could believe that the European Foundation for Quality in E-Learning is something for academic bodies and institutions in general, but the “E” in E-Learning stays for Electronic and it means “using electronic devices”.
That’s why I believe that the industrial component in an organization like EFQUEL could help to balance the academic and institutional ones in the way of dialogue and construction of consensus about the qualities of E-Learning."
I also believe that it is important for a company who was a pioneer in robust mobile technologies (Toshiba launched the first industry standard laptop in 1985) and that manufactures most of the mobile device categories today needed and available for E-Learning world wide, to have an open dialogue with people who influence the quality of learning using ICT. We are keen to make E-Learning affordable for every pocket and, aligned with our motto, help education to triumph against ignorance.
Generally speaking, I am convinced that EFQUEL represents an extremely qualified environment to exchange opinions, elaborate ideas and projects, and exercise a certain influence on public policies in E-Learning matters."
